About GPScan
Our Mission
GPScan exists to make NHS GP practice data accessible, transparent and useful for patients across England. We bring together data from multiple official sources to help you make informed decisions about your healthcare.
Whether you are looking for a new GP, want to compare practices in your area, or are interested in healthcare data and trends, GPScan provides the tools and information you need.
Ben Williams
Founder & NHS Data Enthusiast
Ben is an NHS data enthusiast with a passion for making public healthcare data more accessible. With a background in data analysis and web development, he created GPScan to help patients navigate the often complex landscape of GP practice information.
By combining data from the CQC, GP Patient Survey, OpenPrescribing and the Quality and Outcomes Framework, GPScan provides a comprehensive view of GP practice performance that would otherwise require visiting multiple separate websites.
What We Do
- • Aggregate data from official NHS and CQC sources for over 6,500 GP practices
- • Calculate composite GP Scores to provide a single, comparable measure of practice quality
- • Enable side-by-side practice comparisons across multiple metrics
- • Track prescribing data, patient satisfaction and quality outcomes over time
- • Help patients find practices accepting new registrations in their area
